Ootoya Indonesia, Authentic Homemade Japanese Food

Japanese food is one of the most widely-loved cuisines in the world. Indonesia, thanks to its more than 200 million inhabitants, is lucky enough to be the destination of numerous authentic Japanese food brands, including Ootoya. More than 60 years after its birth in Tokyo in the 1950s, Ootoya now has more than 250 outlets all accross the world, including in New York.

True to its motto “Authentic Homemade Japanese Food,” Ootoya serves homey Japanese cooking that can normally be found in the everyday lives of the Japanese.

It’s pretty hard to resist the temptation to try everything, as all the photos on the menu book look tempting. Having tried numerous dishes at Ootoya, we can safely say that in general, you will be satisfied with whatever you order.

First timers might want to try Tori Kurozu, a hearty serving of deep-fried chicken with fresh vegetables, topped with black vinegar sauce. Beef lovers can pick Gyu Sumi Tei or Demi Hamburg, while fish enthusiasts will have plenty of meal options, both raw and cooked.

You can easily find Ootoya Indonesia at a couple of big malls in Jakarta, including Plaza Indonesia, Senayan City, Kota Kasablanka, and Pacific Place. One might be inclined to think that the price is a little bit on the premium side, but it is well worth the generous portion and quality of food.
